Dermal Fillers in Gig Harbor
JUVÉDERM® injected by Dr. Melissa Larsen, a board-certified plastic surgeon.
RESTORING VOLUME, NOT CHANGING YOUR FACE
Volume loss is often what makes a face look tired before a single line appears. Cheeks flatten, the midface softens, lips lose their edges. Dermal filler restores that fullness — subtly, and in proportion to the rest of your face.
JUVÉDERM® is a family of hyaluronic acid gels. Hyaluronic acid is something your skin already produces and gradually loses. Different formulations have different thicknesses, each chosen to match the area being treated.
Filler replaces lost volume. Lines created by muscle movement are treated differently — see BOTOX® Cosmetic.
At your consultation Dr. Larsen will tell you which applies to your face, and will say so if neither does.
WHO INJECTS YOU
Every injection at NordHavn is performed by Dr. Melissa Larsen, a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Facial anatomy is her training. She works in these planes in surgery, and that shapes how she places filler — where it goes, how much, and when to stop.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Consultation — Dr. Larsen assesses your facial structure, volume distribution and goals, and reviews your medical history.
Treatment — most appointments take 30 to 45 minutes depending on the areas treated. Topical numbing is used, and many JUVÉDERM® formulations contain lidocaine.
After — swelling and bruising are common for a few days, particularly in the lips. Plan around any events.
Results — visible immediately, with the final result apparent once swelling resolves.
Duration — varies by formulation and area. Dr. Larsen will discuss what to expect for your specific plan.
Reversible — JUVÉDERM® is a hyaluronic acid filler, which means it can be dissolved. If you don't love the result, an enzyme called hyaluronidase reverses it, and we keep it on site. A treatment you can undo is an easier decision than one you can't.
IS IT RIGHT FOR YOU?
Dermal filler isn't appropriate for everyone. It isn't used during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and certain autoimmune conditions, medications, active skin infections and a history of severe allergy make it unsuitable.
Dr. Larsen reviews your full medical history before recommending treatment.
Risks include bruising, swelling, tenderness, and lumps or asymmetry that may need adjusting. Rarely, filler can affect a blood vessel — which is why it's placed by someone who knows facial vascular anatomy and keeps reversal agent on hand.
All of this is discussed before anything is injected.
